Council ‘treasures’ older people
Doncaster Council is expanding its highly popular Borough Treasures Scheme. People aged over 60 who live in Doncaster will now be able to get even more great discounts on top attractions across the Borough.Councillor Patricia Schofield, Cabinet Member for Adult Services, said: "I’m pleased to be able to introduce some new offers, such as 2 for 1 entry to the Yorkshire Wildlife, free classes at the Point and offers from our libraries including a free family history session and talking book hire. We’ve also agreed the return of some old favourites, including the Racecourse and Doncaster Rovers. I know how much members enjoy using the offers and getting out and about across the Borough."
Neville Williams, Director of Yorkshire Wildlife Park, said: "We are delighted to support the Borough Treasures scheme as we know how much the older community love to visit the Park and enjoy being outdoors and of course seeing our wonderful animals - from meerkats to zebras. We are very much a resource for our local community of all ages."
The Borough Treasures scheme was set up in 2007 for residents aged over 60. There are currently 9,587 members of the scheme. Each member will receive a pack in the next few days containing their latest set of vouchers.
To join people just need to take proof of age and identity such as a driving licence, bus pass or passport to a Doncaster Council Customer Service Centre or library to get a membership pass and vouchers. For more information call 01302 736000 or go to www.doncaster.gov.uk/boroughtreasures
